We are the Kaitiaki / Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation. We are proud of our Te Whāinga / Our purpose: Sustainable investment delivering strong returns for all New Zealanders. We invest government contributions to the NZ Super Fund, a global investment fund helping to ensure the country can pay for the growing cost of universal superannuation (New Zealand Superannuation) in the future. We also oversee the Elevate Fund, which invests in small, fast-growing New Zealand companies.

The work is complex, innovative and intellectually stimulating. Sustainable finance, including a commitment to being net zero by 2050, is core to our Mātāpono / way of working.

The Finance team is responsible for financial accounting and reporting, provision of analyses and forecasts, risk management and implementation of new investment initiatives, payroll and maintaining a sound internal control environment for the Guardians and the Fund. The team is also responsible for oversight of the financial reporting for the Elevate Fund. The Office Management, Reception and Travel functions sit within the Finance team as well, assisting with supplier management, travel management and ensuring the smooth running of the office.

About the position

In this role you will provide financial accounting and reporting services for the Fund and Guardians and support the Finance team by leading the review, processing, approval, reconciliation and reporting of private market transactions and valuations, including capital calls and distributions. You will also lead the review and processing of Manager fees, including period verification of the reasonableness of manager and carried interest fees, along with. supporting year end financial and audit processes, Fund and Guardians expenses processes and the onboarding of new investments.

The role offers fund wide exposure, allowing you develop financial reporting and investment knowledge, whilst keeping abreast of other technical requirements.

About you


In this role we will consider applicants who are qualified or looking to qualify (with the intent to complete their qualification), or those qualified by experience, ideally in a commercial environment. Investments experience is desirable, but not necessary where strong commercial and technical capabilities are demonstrated.
